JERSEY

Hola! Holy cow. I just finished my first week in the actual mission field. So crazy to think. Well its been good! Not gonna lie....i get super super frustrated sometimes but i try my best to push that aside and be as positive as possible. I usually have no idea whats going on so its annoying haha. But my Companion/Trainer is so great. I am so grateful for her. Shes helping me a lot. Her name is Sister Garn and she is from Arizona. She has been out for 10 months so she goes home next August. I lover her. The mission presidents are so awesome. It was awesome to be able to have an interview with president Jeppson the first night. He got me pretty excited. So i have a lot of random things to say so sorry if this email is super unorganized and random. haha. So on the plane...like i said in my previous email. i was able to talk with a baptist woman named Wanda. She was super super nice and it was awesome to get to know her. We talked about the plan of salvation a little bit because she has been super sad about the passing of her husband. and then i promised her that she could live with her husband again and if she read the book of mormon she would know it was true. She promised she would. and i am hoping to send her a copy when i get a chance. Shes so great. Cutest woman. So the first thing we did when we got to Jersey was the fear buster! we piled in a van and drove to downtown Newark and we were just sitting there all talking for like 30 minutes waiting for them to tell us what we were going to do (i was freezzzzzzing cuz i didnt have my winter clothes yet. only a light jacket) and then finally they said we are going to sing in a circle...but first they said we have to go over the most important rule in the mission....ALWAYS stay with your companion. So they talked about that for a minute and then we started singing. But after like half a verse.... they just yelled GOOO! and everyone just started sprintingg away. so we were running all through the city. ha it was crazy. we had to place a book of mormon and be back in 10 minutes. My companion was sister Jorganson. She was awesome. Soo crazy. Shes like a mix of Megan Jackson and Kaitlyn wright. haha super spastic. and hilarious. and she was actually companions with my companion now. But she just got transfered down to Toms River. So on Tuesday the transfer conference went all day so we didnt really have much time that night. but we all just had a mass gathering in the parking lot and everyone was throwing their stuff in cars. So i am serving in Passaic....We cover around 14 cities i think. Its a decently big area. and i love it her! Oh my goodness it is so diverse! i have either met or taught 12 different ethnicities so far!!! i love it. Peruvian, Ecuadorian, Dominican, Mexican, Armanian, Argentinan, Columbian, Polish, Honduran, Salvadorian, Puerta Rican, And Bolivian. Haha i have a little note pad i carry around and i write all the people i meet down cuz i think its so cool. oh and we live in a city called garfield. our apartment is decent. we live above a memeber. haha the funny thing is....everytime you turn something on you have to make sure everything else is off. or we blow a fuse. like we cant blow dry our hair at the same time or use the microwave while the air is on. its annoying but im use to it now. i blew it out like 5 times the first day. and then we have to go to the basement to fix it. so my companion probably hated me that day. ok...so first lesson. on the first night....a member called us and wanted us to go over to her friends house with her that she hadnt seen in like 10 years so we were like ok... so we walk in and its like a party. there are cupcakes and popcorn everywhere and one tv is blaring with cartoons and like a 10 year old girl was playing call of duty on full blast on the other. and there were just tons of big black thug dudes loungin all over and others just blarin some rap music. and there were birds all over, fish, and dogs. and turtles walking around. hahaha. it was crazy. but the member we went with after ten minutes said she had to go so we still are confused with the point of that visit. but what an experience. So Thanksgiving was good! we ate at a members house ( The Lazaros) and they are super super nice. speak some english as well so that was great. ha. but we went over and they gave us soooo much food and they didnt even eat with us. they just sat and watched us eat. so we brought these little containers with us and my companion keeps them in her bag and when they walk out we hurry and put as much of our food in them as possible hahah. theres no way we could eat it all. and then later we ate at our branch presidents house! all way good food at both places. so it was good. We have two investigators with a baptismal date right now. I havent met one of them yet... we have an appointment with him tonight. so thats exciting! we are trying to get his wife interested as well. so we will see how that goes. Also we are teaching this guy named Edwin. he is dominican but speaks pretty good english as well. i lovvve him. hes hilarious. haha. he wants to be baptized so bad but he cant get sundays off till after the holidays cuz his boss wont let him. but he loves the book of mormon and just knows its true. He had problems with the word of wisdom in every way but once he started the lessons he stopped everything altogether and hes doing pretty well. we have a lesson with him tomorrow that i am really excited about. oh and funny story...he said he would remember my name because of the guy off of mario....and i could not figure out what he was talking about but i got in the car and realized he was talking about yoshi hahaha. hes great.  ahh i love the members here so much. they are all the nicest people i just wish i could talk to them more. haha. they are the greatest tho. and i love love love all the kids. they are the cutest. and they all speak english as well so thats helpful! ha.  so ya...this email is super random and mixed up sorry. but its hard to remember everthing i had to say. ha. but all is well. Its great here. If only language could come faster. all would be grannnnnnd. but itll come. I hope you all have fantastic holidays. Im sad i cant be there. Holidays are the best. But itll be awesome here. oh ya...i forgot to say that we get to go to the Manhattan temple on the 13th!!! Im super excited. We get to go in December and June! But we get to walk through times square to get there so that will be cool. And i have heard that this temple is absolutely beautiful inside. ahh im excited! We can see New York from here and its beautiful at night! well i dont have much time left but i love you all! i am super excited for my lessons tonight and tomorrow! they should be awesome ones! well... hasta luego. peace, love, and blessing. Love you all!!
