Hello my dearest family! :) Hope all is going well for you! I hope you know I'm still DYING to know what Whitney is having! I'm sure that package is just waiting for me at my old apartment :( Unless did she send it to the mission home? Cuz in that case it's probably waiting there? Ok, so I'm going to get started on a LONG email. I just don't even know where to begin.
Let me just tell you, before I left Woodbridge everything was all the sudden just going CRAZY! In a good way :) We had miracle after miracle after miracle. Hermana Wallis should have a good 8 baptisms or so if everything works out :) 2 of them being this Saturday! How fun eh?? My ward mission leader back in Woodbridge sent us a nice little email updating us on everything (I'll forward that to you). I cannot even explain to you how far he has come since we started working with him. When he says that we've lit a flame in his missionary work, the truth is stated. He was AMAZING by the end. It was extremely hard to leave all that success, but it's alright cuz there is great news to come. He was so kind to tell the district leader that this ward has never seen such amazing missionaries, and that we truly flipped things around in the Potomac River Ward :)
I have been called to serve in Henrico which is in Richmond. I'm serving with Hermana Dangerfield, 20 years old and from Cedar City Utah. She too went to BYU but for 2 years before the mish. She is DARLING!!! Seriously, if I could have picked a companion she would have been a top pick. I didn't know her super well but I knew that she was super happy all the time and just so fun. That's exactly how she is! Always has a smile on her face :) We get along SOOO well! She is so cute learning all her Spanish. She's doing a wonderful job! She is so cute with all the little hispanics. I've never had so much fun talking to EVERYONE! We make it so fun :) I felt like before it was sometimes a little robotic... but now it's like they're all my best friends! :) It's really crazy to be with somebody who knows less Spanish than I do, but I can't even tell you how grateful I am. We are learning SOOO much together!!! :) She's WONDERFUL!!! I miss Hermana Wallis and I'm super grateful for the things that I learned from her, but I sure am grateful to be with this darling lively little one! Haha :)
The last transfers here in Henrico have been a little bit rough. There has been a sister here for the past 6 months, and lets just say she got a bit trunky a little early on her mission. Poor Hermana Dangerfield was just dying this past transfer. Well, boy were we ready to pick this place up! Thursday and Friday and Saturday we spent MANY hours knocking. We had NOTHING planned in our schedule. Well, here we are 4 days later and our schedule is PACKED! We were able to get 5 new solid investigators in 3 days!! :) I have so many amazing miracles to share, but I'll pick my top 2 :)
Miracle #1:
Roberta (a less active). We went to go visit her like 3 days in a row but she never answered. Sunday we did not have in the plans to go see her, but randomly we decided to drop by. Sure enough, she was there and she let us in for a lesson! COme to find out her daughter had been taught by the missionaries a while back and she told them she would get baptized in September after her birthday. Well, guess what month has past?! It was a MIRACLE! She is so ready and willing to learn :) We are going to see them today and thursday again, so I can't wait to see how that goes. Her husband isn't a member either, but he even listened into the lesson! President always tells us to work through less actives and that miracles will come. Oh man is that the truth or what?! I'm SOOO Excited to start working with their cute little family!!!
Miracle #2:
Ok, so on my first day here in Henrico we decided to go out knocking for a few hours. We knocked into a lady named Liliana and got a return appointment with her for yesterday. Well, later we were going throught the area book and we stumbled across a Liliana! Sure enough, it was HER! She was a very promising FORMER! The thing was that she had moved, and had a new number so we would have NEVER been able to find her. Well, next part of the story. Yesterday we tried calling her to remind her about our cita. She didn't answer. We decided just to go anyway, but the problem was we had forgotten to write down the apartment number she lived in. (Every building looks the same there!) I was pretty sure that it was 1 out of 3 of these apartments so we just knocked all of them. None of them were home except some middle eastern lady. (Bless there hearts they are so cute. None of them can speak english so we have quite the experiences trying to share the gospel with them :) Haha stories for another time). Well, it was getting to the point where I wasn't sure if we were just wasting time now or what but I just knew that we needed to find her. I just felt sick that we had forgotten to write the number down! On top of that we had forgotten our phone at home! Hna Dangerfield them reminded me that there must be a reason that all this is happening this way, so we said a prayer and continued on. We just started walking and the first corner we turn we see these three hispanic kids yelling out the window. We flock to our hispanics, so we decided to go knock their door. Well, this lady had taken some of the lessons before but then moved to America. We have a return appointment with her for Saturday :) Then we start leaving and some guy walks out of that same apartment. We start talking to him and he was a miracle as well. Back in Honduras he had many of the discussions and went to church multiple times! We got his number and will hopefully soon be having a lesson with him! Then randomly a member who just barely became active again was walking through Nottingham Green. She lives in CLoisters, so who knows what she was doing there? We talk to her for a bit and then decide to try and contact this Menos Activo that we had been trying to see for a few days. Well, on our way in the building we ran into some more hispanics and started talking to them. Well, one of them has had ALL the lessons and is super far into el libro de mormon! We will see how it goes with her, because she might be out of our area? We'll have to call to get her address because she didn't know it. Next we were talking to her friend and shared a little bit with her. We'll see if she follows through?? We asked her if she knew where an Hermana Hernandez lived (thinking it was that same apartment) but then she points down the road. It was getting dark and this place is sketchy so we decided we probably shouldn't go to visit her right now. We went to go write down the number of where she pointed, but still decided not to even knock it. (Who know's why? What would 30 seconds do?) Well, on our way back we see a lady and 3 kids walking to the trash can. We say Hola, como estan? Bien... then after a second Hna Dangerfield says are you Liliana? We had seen her ONCE! We were so close to not saying anything because we needed to get out of that place. Well, guess what! It was!!! We had knocked her door earlier but she had forgotten about our cita!! She said she really wants to have a lesson she just had forgotten!!!!! IT WAS A MIRACLE!!! If we wouldn't have talked to all those people we would have NEVER seen her! She was out there for a span of 1 minute. If we wouldn't have gone to check out the number of the apartment we wouldn't have seen her. We were there for 2 HOURS! We never go there at night, but something kept us there. The Lord works in mysterious ways!!! Oh my goodness, it was the coolest experience ever!!!! We have a cita with her later this week :) I CAN"T WAIT!!!
I hope that story made a little bit of sense. If it didn't than just know that it was absolutely AMAZING!!! We were just gleaming the rest of the night :) I have never seen so many miracles in my whole mission! These past few days have been amazing!! We have been working SOOO hard, and already things are being picked up here! It's exhausting but in the best way ever!! The Spanish has been a miracle!! It hasn't been a barrier so far! I just am able to say the things that I need and want to say :) I am truly the happiest I've ever been on my mission. I thought that a week ago as well, but this is different. It just has been SOOO rewarding! We started with NOTHING, and already we are seeing so much to come in the future! I LOVE my new companion. It has been amazing to learn and grow with her :) I know that this church is true. I know that every single experience happens for a reason. The Lord knows what he is doing. Don't ever doubt him. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be here in Henrico. 4 days ago I was thinking I just wanted to go to Argentina if I was going to have to leave Woodbridge, but now I NEVER want to leave!! I LOVE THIS WORK!!! :) I love you so much! Thanks for all the support! :) Sorry for the longest email ever all in one paragraph. Haha just so much to say! :)
Have a fantastic week!! LOVE YOU ALL! This church is true! Don't ever doubt it!!!
Con amor, Hermana Wright.
